Picture a cocksure twenty-something consultant making a dazzling presentation on e-business to a mature Latin American CEO. The CEO is attentive and respectful of the precocious pinstriped brat because he recognizes the novelty and value of the presentation. Then the consultant switches to the topic of competitive intelligence. He goes on ad nauseum about the new CI techniques that his firm has developed based on foreign models. Gradually, a sarcastic smile spreads across the Latin CEO's face. He is no stranger to competitive intelligence.
